Introduction:
The urine albumin and albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR) test screen for early kidney damage in individuals with chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension. Albumin, a protein produced by the liver, is normally absent or present in minimal amounts in urine. Increased urinary albumin levels indicate kidney damage.
